The Hampshire Companies, a full-service, private real estate investment firm with equity in assets valued at more than $2.5 billion, has announced the promotion of John Goldsmith, Jr. to Portfolio Manager. In his new role, Goldsmith will primarily be responsible for executing long-range real estate asset and fund management strategies that maximize the performance and value of its core investment funds.

Goldsmith brings 14 years of investment management, capital markets, and real estate private equity experience to his new position as Portfolio Manager. He joined the Hampshire Companies in 2011 as an Asset Manager, and was subsequently promoted to Director of Acquisitions and Fund Analytics in 2013. Over the course of his time at Hampshire, Goldsmith played instrumental roles in various acquisitions, fund analytics, and capital raising initiatives. Prior to joining Hampshire, Goldsmith worked at Goldman Sachs & Co, Starwood Capital Group and most recently Mooring Financial Corporation, where he worked on acquiring distressed, sub-performing commercial loans and advising on a corporate restructuring and spinoff.

Goldsmith earned a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. Goldsmith is active in multiple industry trade organizations, including NAIOP and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He resides in New Providence, New Jersey with his wife and three children.
