More than sixty years ago, James E. Hanson demonstrated an uncanny ability to succeed in real estate in all kinds of economic environments. He passed his skills on to his son, Jon F. Hanson, who augmented his father’s investment philosophy and created the Hampshire Companies in 1976. 

Today, Hampshire is led by a third generation with James E. Hanson II as president and CEO. HRE is now a broad-based real estate operator, real estate management services provider, investor and fund manager, and Mr. Hanson is leading the company to even greater heights.

HRE manages private funds with more than a billion dollars in assets. HRE owns and/or operates a portfolio of approximately 180 properties totaling approximately 13.5 million square feet.
